It did help :) I went to another camp last summer for writing and this year I'm experimenting with my love of art with Painting and Drawing classes as well as Digi Photo. I guess that counts as a little experience as far as camps go, but I know camps will never fail to shock me.
I can't be more excited to find my niche like I did last summer and make another family of peers. I'm definitely going to have to check out your blogs from your last sessions of FS!.
My name's Josh Woo and I am (was) a 3-year Survivor (2006-2008). I have a few blog posts that outline my experience at Firespark!, so feel free to read those. But if you want a short answer, don't be afraid to be yourself, but also be willing to try new things. The whole FS experience is not only trying the things you like, but also trying things that you never would even dream of doing (or liking). I can attest to that--I never thought I'd like journalism, but after taking the class I thoroughly enjoyed it and, as I prepare for college, am seriously considering it for a career.
Oh, and the people you meet there will be your friends for--well, if not for life, at least a long time. Treasure their friendships. Heck, they helped me through some of my troubling times.
Hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you have any further questions.
